Easter Basket Drive - On April 6th, 2009, the Local 342 Activities Committee, along with volunteer members, and staff participated in Local 342’s annual Easter basket assembly drive. Each year, Local 342 assembles hundreds of Easter baskets filled with treats and toys to donate to children’s charities across the community. This year, members, and staff came to their local area offices in Mineola, Staten Island, Patchogue, and Brooklyn to once again display their unity by contributing to this noble cause. The many volunteers that showed up at each office were a reflection upon Local 342’s continued commitment to supporting and enriching its surrounding neighborhoods.

Bingo Nights - With good luck charms in hand, members went to their area offices this May to play Gift Theme Bingo. Each participant brought a wrapped gift with the theme of Kitchen/Cooking in mind. Members prepared their favorite dishes to share with fellow bingo players. Members also handed in their recipes so that they may be entered in the Local 342 Cookbook. Members played until all the gifts were won. A great time had by all. Because of its success, future bingo nights are planned to be scheduled. Stay tuned to the Activities section of the website.

Defensive Driving Classes - Save $$$ on your Auto Insurance and Reduce Points on your License. The Local 342 SEC Fund, in association with AAA, offers a Defensive Driving Voucher Program for Local 342 members. The Defensive Driving Voucher is used for the six-hour course that AAA offers. There is no cost to Local 342 members or their dependents! Updated Safety Status Report - Floodwaters Recede in A&P Valley Stream - Earlier this week, the Safety Department demanded that the company provide dry and clean restrooms. Portable toilets were then delivered to the Valley Stream store on Monday until the hazardous condition in the basement is corrected.
